Delights of my land.
Delicias de mi tierra, is a restaurant, which is located in the city of Iquitos in the district of San Juan Bautista, entering through the hills. The capacity to serve the clientele is very wide, it has a capacity of 120 people and the food served is very exquisite since it is regional dishes from the Peruvian jungle, where it is very varied and nutritious for its consumers. It opens at noon every day and you can have lunch, dinner or a snack. You can also taste dishes from the coast and the mountains. Since Peruvian gastronomy has fascinated the world for its mixture of exquisite and exotic flavors, aromas and textures, a country with 3 great gastronomic regions: coast, mountains and the jungle area of the Amazon.
In this article I will show you the best typical dishes of the Peruvian jungle, an invitation for when you travel to these Inca lands, especially the city of Iquitos - Peru, where my restaurant "Delicias de mi tierra" is located.
1. Tacacho with jerky and chorizo.
One of the most popular in the Peruvian jungle that is never lacking in the San Juan festival celebrated in Iquitos, Yurimaguas, Pucallpa, Tarapoto and other Peruvian Amazonian towns and cities, since the eve of June 24. It is prepared based on green banana that softens when roasted or fried. Then it is crushed and mixed with lard. This re-powered carbohydrate is eaten with pork jerky (dried and smoked meat) and with sausages made with ground meat from the same animal and various seasonings.
The word "tacacho" comes from the Quechua word "taka chu" which means "beaten."
4. The Juane
In the list of typical jungle dishes, juane, an original recipe from Moyobamba, capital of the Department of San Martín and the first city founded by the Spanish (1540) in the Peruvian jungle, should be noted. It looks like a great tamale and is also eaten during the San Juan festivities, hence its name. Although there are several types of juanes, the original is based on yucca. Rice is also very common. It is made with pieces of chicken, pieces of hard-boiled egg and botija olives, ingredients that are wrapped in the dough and then in bijao leaves that are boiled.
5. Suri skewers.
The suri is a coleopteran insect with high protein and vitamin value. Its smooth texture and flavor is similar to that of chicken and it is eaten accompanied by pieces of yucca and parboiled or roasted plantain.
And in drinks we have such as Masato, Aguajina, Cocona soft drink, Camu soft drink, Camu. What they should try.
